CBSE Digital Payments initiative has asked affiliated schools to promote digital payment facilities across school-related financial activities. The advisory follows a communication from the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance and covers schools, students and parents. Schools have been advised to enable options such as UPI and RuPay cards for fees, canteens, libraries and other services. Institutions in areas with limited connectivity may consider alternatives such as UPI Lite, UPI LiteX and UPI 123PAY. CBSE has also suggested onboarding the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) for standardised fee collection and integrating payment facilities with school ERP systems. The notice further emphasises digital financial literacy through teacher training, school campaigns and parent awareness programmes. The measures aim to expand access to digital payments while encouraging safe and convenient transaction practices across the school ecosystem.
