Pratyush Kumar Sarvam AI co-founder is an IIT Bombay alumnus who moved from academic research and teaching into entrepreneurship. He completed his B.Tech in Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay before earning a PhD in Computer Science at ETH Zurich. After his doctoral studies, Kumar worked as a research scientist at IBM and later as a researcher at Microsoft. He joined IIT Madras as faculty in 2018 and subsequently became associated with initiatives focused on technology education and Indian-language AI. In 2020, he co-founded AI4Bharat, which works on artificial intelligence and language technologies for India. In 2023, Kumar and Vivek Raghavan founded Sarvam AI. The company focuses on developing AI models and tools designed for India’s diverse linguistic and technological needs.
