Nisarga Adhikary: CBSE Cybersecurity Researcher Enters US DoJ Hall of Fame

Nisarga Adhikary recognised in US DoJ cybersecurity Hall of Fame

Nisarga Adhikary, a 19-year-old cybersecurity researcher, has been named in the US Department of Justice (DoJ) Hall of Fame for cybersecurity after responsibly reporting a vulnerability in a government system. The recognition adds another milestone to his journey from student researcher to cybersecurity professional. Adhikary earlier came into the spotlight after identifying security flaws in the CBSE On-Screen Marking (OSM) portal. The system is used to digitally manage and evaluate scanned examination answer sheets. CBSE later said identified vulnerabilities in the relevant system had been contained. According to Adhikary, he discovered the US DoJ vulnerability while examining its website and using custom scripts. He reported the issue, and the department validated and fixed it within about a week before crediting him on its acknowledgements page. In June 2026, IIT Kanpur appointed him as an OSINT and Threat Intelligence Engineer at C3iHub, its cybersecurity-focused innovation hub.
