GATE 2027 registration is underway, and IIT Madras has introduced an option for candidates whose DigiLocker accounts remain unverified. Such applicants can select the default ID proof while completing the application form. Their applications will be scrutinised after the registration deadline, and original documents will also be checked at the examination centre. Candidates are advised to use a verified DigiLocker account where possible for a smoother registration and examination process. IIT Madras has also advised applicants not to delete the DigiLocker account used during registration, as future GATE communications will be linked to that account. The regular GATE 2027 registration deadline is September 27, 2026, while applications with a late fee can be submitted until October 5, 2026. The examination will be conducted on six dates in February 2027. GATE scores are used for postgraduate and doctoral admissions, with some PSUs also using scores for recruitment.
