Primary Teacher Course 2026: MoE Launches Six-Month Bridge Programme

Teacher attending Primary Teacher Course 2026 bridge training programme

Primary Teacher Course 2026 has been launched by the Union Ministry of Education as a six-month bridge programme for eligible in-service primary teachers with B.Ed qualifications. The programme is designed for teachers appointed between June 28, 2018 and August 11, 2023, whose appointments are protected under the relevant NCTE notification. Implemented through the National Institute of Open Schooling, the course aims to strengthen teachers’ skills in child-centred, inclusive and developmentally appropriate teaching. The programme follows the NCTE framework and includes six theory courses, at least 10 days of online contact classes and at least 20 days of school-based experience. The initiative follows a 2024 Supreme Court judgment that enabled NCTE to develop a bridge course for eligible primary teachers who hold B.Ed but did not have D.El.Ed qualifications.
