Major Navya Shekhawat has become the first woman officer from the Indian Army to serve as Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She is the second woman officer overall to hold the President’s ADC position, following Lieutenant Commander Yashasvi Solanki of the Indian Navy, who served in the role in 2025. Shekhawat’s journey into the Army began with the Union Public Service Commission’s Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination. She subsequently trained at the Officers Training Academy in Chennai and was commissioned into the Army Service Corps in 2021. As an ADC, she assists the President during official engagements and ceremonies and supports military and ceremonial protocol. Her appointment adds another milestone to the expanding participation of women in the Indian Armed Forces and highlights a career pathway that began through the CDS examination.
