Renu Hans Class 10 Success Story is a remarkable example of returning to education after a long gap. The 45-year-old woman from Jammu, who is speech- and hearing-impaired, cleared her Class 10 board examination with 82 per cent after 22 years. She had first attempted the examination before marriage but could not complete her education because of family responsibilities and other challenges. Her son, Naman Koul, played an important role in helping her achieve the goal. A Class 12 Science student himself, Naman taught his mother after school, cleared her doubts and helped her prepare for the examination. Renu appeared for the JKOS bi-annual board examination in April, with results announced on September 10. She initially felt nervous about appearing for an examination alongside students of different ages but completed all her papers successfully. Her achievement marks the completion of a 22-year-old educational dream and demonstrates that returning to studies is possible at any stage of life.
