Karnataka Government School Transformation has turned Government High School Bhutramanahatti near Belagavi into a model institution. Science teacher Basavaraj Sungari began sharing students’ science projects, creative activities and performances through a Facebook page in 2012. The videos attracted education enthusiasts and donors, resulting in more than ₹1 crore worth of support. Donors contributed equipment and facilities instead of direct cash donations. The school has since developed three laboratories, including an atomic science laboratory, a digital library, digital classrooms, projectors, digital boards, high-tech toilets, drinking water facilities, an auditorium and lunchroom. Once offering classes only up to Class 4, the school now provides education from LKG to Class 10 and has around 492 students. The institution also received the state government’s Swabhimani Public School award and a ₹5 lakh prize. However, growing enrollment has created a shortage of classrooms, prompting teachers to seek additional rooms.
