Water Saver App: 13-Year-Old Coder Helps Save 20 Million Gallons

13-year-old Neha Blunt developed Water Saver app for water conservation

The Water Saver app developed by 13-year-old Neha Blunt is using technology to encourage households to reduce everyday water wastage. The student from New Jersey created the web-based platform after learning how much water can be lost through simple household leaks and habits. Neha spent seven months developing the application and taught herself programming skills, including MySQL, to build its database system. The platform allows users to track water use, set conservation goals and learn practical ways to save water. Her wider Water Savers campaign has reached more than one million people and encouraged over 100,000 people to change their daily habits. It has contributed to an estimated 20 million gallons of water savings. Neha’s work earned third place in the 2026 International Young Eco-Hero Awards. She is now working on Water Saver 2.0, which aims to use live household water-use data through interactive charts.
