Odisha NEET success story highlights how five children from a financially struggling tribal family in Kandhamal are pursuing their dream of becoming doctors. The family’s journey began when Bibhisan Naiak became the first to clear NEET and secure admission to Saheed Laxman Naik Medical College in Koraput. He is now completing his internship there. His sister Monalisa later joined the same medical college, while Sunemi, Ashriya and Meenakshi also cleared NEET and secured MBBS seats in government medical colleges across Odisha. Their father, who studied only until Class 2, supports the family through farming and migrant labour. Despite financial difficulties, loans and limited resources, the children remained focused on education. The family says their parents’ struggles motivated them to work harder. One sibling also took a ₹6 lakh loan to support their education. The family has now appealed for government assistance to meet the rising costs of medical education.
