IISc Bengaluru Aerospace Research Gains Anand Mahindra’s Praise

IISc Bengaluru professors working on aerospace and high-speed flight research

IISc Bengaluru aerospace research is gaining attention for its work on high-speed flight, propulsion and advanced fluid dynamics. Industrialist Anand Mahindra recently highlighted IISc professors Duvvuri Subrahmanyam and Pratikash Panda for their research and contribution to India’s aerospace ambitions. Subrahmanyam, an Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, works on aerodynamics and turbulent flows across subsonic, supersonic and hypersonic conditions. Panda, an Assistant Professor, focuses on fluid mechanics, combustion, rocket propulsion, cryogenic combustion and advanced laser diagnostics. Both researchers studied or worked at leading international institutions before returning to India and joining IISc. Their work also includes contributions made during the COVID-19 pandemic to Project PRAANA, which developed an indigenous ventilator. Mahindra’s recognition highlights the growing role of IISc research in India’s aerospace and deep-tech ecosystem. The developments also underline Bengaluru’s importance as a centre for advanced scientific research and innovation.
