NEET UG 2026 Medical Seats Rise by 13,186: Karnataka Leads

Medical students and NEET UG 2026 medical seat expansion in India

NEET UG 2026 Medical Seats have increased by 13,186 after the National Medical Commission approved additional undergraduate medical seats across India. The expansion takes the country’s total undergraduate medical-seat capacity to around 1.4 lakh for the 2026 admission cycle. Karnataka has recorded the highest increase among the states, making the development particularly significant for NEET aspirants in the state. The rise in seats could provide more opportunities for students seeking MBBS admission through the NEET UG counselling process. Please note that additional seats do not guarantee easier admission; cut-offs will continue to depend on candidate performance, category, college preference, and seat availability. The NMC’s official college and course database provides the latest recognised medical-college and seat information for the 2026–27 academic year.
