Karnataka AI Ecosystem: University, Hub and Tech Clusters Planned

Karnataka AI ecosystem with planned AI University and AI Hub

Karnataka AI ecosystem is set for expansion as the state government plans an AI University, an AI Hub in Bengaluru and regional technology clusters. The initiative, highlighted during the government’s 100 days, aims to strengthen Karnataka’s AI talent pipeline and attract technology careers beyond Bengaluru. The proposed AI University is expected to receive a government order by September 30, 2026, and be established by December 31. The state has proposed ₹82.41 crore, including ₹59 crore for the university and ₹23.41 crore for the AI Hub. The Hub is expected to begin operations in October 2026, with its first certification course planned for December. The government also plans to use AI in areas such as agriculture, healthcare and public services. Regional clusters could help spread technology opportunities across Karnataka and support innovation, skills development and employment outside Bengaluru further.
