IIT Ropar MTech Defence Technology programme for Indian Army officers

IIT Ropar MTech Defence Technology will provide Indian Army officers with formal postgraduate accreditation under a new agreement with the Army Air Defence College. The pact allows officers enrolled in the Long Air Defence Course to receive MTech degrees in Defence Technology from IIT Ropar. The agreement was signed by IIT Ropar Director Professor Rajeev Ahuja and Lt Gen Amit Rao, Commandant of the Army Air Defence College, Gopalpur. Under the collaboration, IIT Ropar faculty members will mentor officers in dissertations and research projects. Officers will also receive access to institute laboratories and infrastructure, subject to approval, and participate in seminars and lectures. The two institutions will jointly develop technological knowledge in areas of mutual interest. The partnership builds on an academic and research cooperation agreement signed in 2022. It strengthens collaboration between higher education and the Indian Army in defence technology and research.
