Future Engineering Skills are changing as technology increasingly connects areas of science and engineering. IISc Professor Arindam Ghosh has highlighted interdisciplinary learning, research and innovation as essential for engineers preparing for challenges. Speaking at a seminar on Circuits, Control, Communication and Computing organised by Ramaiah Institute of Technology with Bradley University, Ghosh said students should look beyond one specialisation. He stressed that understanding links between disciplines can help engineers develop practical solutions for challenges in healthcare, agriculture, rural development, transportation and environmental protection. The discussion also highlighted opportunities in sectors such as renewable energy and semiconductors. Experts said engineering students need to continuously update their knowledge and develop problem-solving, research and communication skills. The message for students is clear: future engineering careers will require broader knowledge, collaboration and the ability to apply technology to real-world problems and supporting sustainable development.
