IIT Admission Without JEE is becoming possible through specialised programmes, Olympiad-based selection and institute-specific admission routes offered by some IITs. IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur are expanding pathways that assess students beyond JEE Advanced. The new Bachelor of Cybersecurity (BCyber) programme, jointly offered by the two institutes, provides an alternative route for students interested in cybersecurity. From the next admission cycle, IIT Madras plans to introduce an aptitude test covering mathematics, logical reasoning and cybersecurity, followed by a hackathon testing programming and cybersecurity skills. IIT Kanpur has also admitted 14 students through its Olympiad-based route in 2026 without JEE Advanced. Students can also explore IIT Madras’ non-campus BS programmes in Data Science and Applications and Electronic Systems through institute-specific qualifier processes. While JEE Advanced remains the main route to regular IIT BTech programmes, these alternatives show that demonstrated skills, Olympiad performance and subject expertise are gaining importance in IIT admissions.
