IIT Madras IIM Ahmedabad startup founders are emerging as prominent names in India’s growing startup ecosystem, according to the 2026 ASK Private Wealth Hurun India Cheetah Index. IIT Madras leads the undergraduate list, with 13 founders in the latest cohort, followed by IIT Bombay with 10 and the University of Delhi with nine. At the postgraduate level, IIM Ahmedabad tops the list with seven founders, followed by the Indian School of Business with six and IIM Lucknow with five. The report highlights the strong connection between India’s leading educational institutions and its high-growth startup ecosystem. The 2026 index includes 110 Cheetahs, more than double the 54 recorded in 2021. These startups have a combined valuation of around ₹3 lakh crore and employ over 1.10 lakh people. The findings show how premier institutions continue to provide valuable academic foundations for aspiring entrepreneurs.
