UK Study Abroad for Indian Students: Why the UK May Lead by 2030

Indian students planning study abroad in the UK

UK Study Abroad for Indian Students could grow significantly by 2030, with a new QS forecast projecting the UK to overtake Canada and the US as the most popular destination. The forecast estimates Indian student numbers in the UK could rise from about 146,500 in 2025 to 184,300 by 2030. By comparison, Indian student numbers in Canada are projected to fall from 232,900 to 176,400, while the US is forecast to decline from 219,300 to 162,600. Changing immigration policies, post-study work prospects and student preferences are contributing to the shift in destination choices. For Indian students, the trend highlights the importance of comparing more than university rankings while selecting a country. Tuition fees, scholarships, visa rules, employment opportunities and post-study pathways should all be considered. Students should also verify current immigration rules before making application decisions.
