India Hockey Blue Jersey Asian Games 2026 will see the traditional blue as the teams preferred primary colour after the recent saffron jersey controversy. Hockey India has selected blue as its first preference and saffron as the second option for the upcoming Asian Games in Japan. The change follows criticism from former players and fans after saffron became the primary colour during the recent World Cup. Hockey India had earlier explained that the colour change was aimed at improving player visibility against the blue playing surface. However, the decision also raised questions about the process followed to change one of Indian hockey’s most recognisable symbols. Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey said the saffron jersey was never meant to be permanent. The federation has now confirmed its blue-first preference for the Asian Games, while the final official kit design is yet to be unveiled. Future jersey colours will be discussed separately.
