IISc Deep-Tech Startups: 300 Ventures Targeted by 2030

IISc campus and deep-tech startup innovation ecosystem

IISc Deep-Tech Startups are set for a major expansion as the Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development (FSID) targets 300 startups and 1,000 industry projects by 2030. The initiative aims to strengthen the connection between scientific research, industry and entrepreneurship. FSID, the innovation and incubation arm of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), plans to work more closely with multinational companies, Indian businesses and MSMEs. Its goal is to help to move research from laboratories into useful products, technologies and businesses. The organisation is also introducing a new governance model and has appointed Omprakash Subbarao as its first industry-leader CEO. FSID operates around two major areas: innovation and incubation. The expansion comes as India seeks to build a stronger deep-tech ecosystem in areas such as artificial intelligence, healthcare, aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing. Recent partnerships involving IISc-FSID also highlight growing industry collaboration around research and startup development.
