Karnataka AI University is moving into an implementation-focused phase after its consultation committee held its first meeting in Bengaluru on September 5. The committee discussed launching AI education and skilling programmes as the legislative and institutional process to establish the proposed university continues. Plans include certificate and diploma programmes, finishing-school initiatives, executive education and reskilling opportunities. Infosys co-founder Kris Gopalakrishnan chairs the committee, co-chaired by N Manjula, secretary of Karnataka’s Department of Electronics, IT, Biotechnology and Science & Technology. The initiative is intended to bring industry and academia together to develop AI talent across the state. The phased approach could allow students, working professionals and other learners to access AI-related training before the full university structure is established. Programmes are expected to cover emerging technology skills and industry-oriented learning.
