AI Cannot Replace Teachers, Karnataka Urban development minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah said during the district-level Teachers’ Day celebrations in Mysuru. He noted that students today have easy access to vast amounts of information through technology and artificial intelligence. However, he stressed that education is not limited to providing information. Teachers play a crucial role in developing students’ personality, character, moral values and social awareness. Yathindra said these responsibilities cannot be fulfilled by technology alone. He also highlighted the need to strengthen government schools by improving buildings, repairing classrooms and addressing teacher shortages. According to him, the Karnataka government has already started the process of recruiting around 15,000 teachers. The remarks come as AI tools are increasingly being used by teachers and students for learning, lesson preparation and academic support. The message highlights the importance of combining technological tools with human guidance in modern education.
