IIT Bombay IAF Master’s Programme will create a collaborative academic framework for flight-test crew, including test pilots and flight-test engineers. The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to advance education and research in flight testing. The agreement was signed on September 2, 2026. Under the partnership, the Air Force Test Pilot School (AFTPS), part of the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE), will work with IIT Bombay’s academic, technological and research expertise.The programme will combine the IAF’s practical experience in flight testing with IIT Bombay’s strengths in engineering and advanced research. It is expected to strengthen specialised postgraduate education for test pilots and flight-test engineers. The collaboration will also support research related to aircraft testing, flight systems, aerospace technology and military aviation. The initiative aims to strengthen India’s indigenous aerospace capabilities and contribute to technological self-reliance in defence.
