Bengaluru Traffic AI Hackathon: AI Solutions to Beat Jams

Bengaluru Traffic AI Hackathon develops AI solutions to tackle traffic congestion

Bengaluru Traffic AI Hackathon has produced three AI-based solutions aimed at predicting congestion, improving traffic police deployment and tackling parking-related bottlenecks. Flipkart organised Gridlock Hackathon 2.0 in collaboration with Bengaluru Traffic Police. The event attracted 33,600 participants from across India and generated more than 1,100 AI and machine-learning prototypes using anonymised Bengaluru traffic data. The winning solution, Gridlock Oracle, predicts how a single traffic incident could trigger congestion across different parts of Bengaluru. It also offers a live dashboard to help traffic police deploy resources before congestion spreads. The second-place solution, PRAHAR, forecasts congestion severity, junction risks and incident resolution time while recommending deployment of personnel, barricades and diversion routes. The third winner, ParkSight, uses parking violation data to identify congestion hotspots and improve enforcement. The hackathon demonstrates how AI can help to address Bengaluru’s complex traffic challenges.
