Student internships for career growth are becoming increasingly important as colleges and industry partners look for ways to connect classroom learning with real-world work. A recent IIT-BHU partnership with Talendy Holdings aims to expand internship and employment opportunities for students in Japanese and international companies, highlighting the value of global industry exposure. Internships can help students understand workplace expectations, apply academic concepts and identify areas where they need additional skills. They can also strengthen communication, teamwork, problem-solving and professional networking. Students should not choose internships only because of a company’s name. The quality of the role, mentorship, project responsibility and relevance to their career goals matter more. Ideally, students should maintain a portfolio of projects and document measurable outcomes from each internship. Even short experiences can become valuable when students can explain what they learned and how they applied it.
