IIT Madras and UNESCO MGIEP partnership for AI and immersive learning

IIT Madras UNESCO AI learning initiative brings together the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and UNESCO’s Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) to explore next-generation learning technologies. The collaboration focuses on using AI and immersive technologies to create more engaging and personalised educational experiences. The partnership comes as artificial intelligence increasingly changes how learners access information, interact with educational content and develop new skills. UNESCO MGIEP has been working on AI-enabled learning approaches, including digital platforms that support collaborative and personalised education. IIT Madras brings expertise in artificial intelligence, data science, digital education and emerging technologies. Its Centre for Outreach and Digital Education also coordinates digital learning initiatives and supports online education programmes. The collaboration could support the development of AI-powered learning tools, immersive educational environments and new digital pedagogies, potentially benefiting students and educators. The initiative highlights India’s growing role in developing technology-driven solutions for the future of education.
