Canada Study Permit Funds 2026: Indian Students Need More Money

Canada Study Permit Funds 2026 requirement for Indian students

Canada Study Permit Funds 2026 have increased, creating an important financial change for Indian students planning to study in Canada. From September 1, 2026, a single student applying for a study permit outside Quebec must show CAD 23,448 for one year of living expenses. This is up from CAD 22,895 under the previous requirement. The amount is only for living expenses and does not include tuition fees or transportation costs. Students must separately demonstrate sufficient funds for these expenses. For students travelling with family, the financial requirement is higher. Two family members must show CAD 29,192, while three require CAD 35,888. The amount increases according to family size. Students can provide documents such as bank statements, education loan records, scholarship letters and proof of tuition or accommodation payments. For programmes lasting more than one year, applicants must also explain how they plan to finance the remaining period of study.
