AI Courses in IITs are reshaping engineering education as India’s premier institutes respond to the rapid growth of artificial intelligence. A review of programmes across 23 IITs shows roughly 50 degree-level courses focused on AI, machine intelligence or related AI and data science areas. IITs are also moving AI beyond traditional computer science. IIT Delhi offers programmes covering machine intelligence and data science, while IIT Madras has expanded AI education through its B.Tech programme, postgraduate courses and SWAYAM Plus offerings. IIT Bombay has also introduced programmes in AI and Data Science, including an executive postgraduate diploma for professionals.The expansion reflects a wider shift towards interdisciplinary engineering education, combining AI with robotics, healthcare, manufacturing, finance, semiconductors and other emerging fields.
