Roehampton esports scholarship is offering students in the UK an unusual opportunity to receive financial support for competitive gaming. The University of Roehampton provides scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate students who demonstrate gaming ability while maintaining satisfactory academic performance. Applicants are expected to meet minimum rankings in major competitive games, although students close to the required ranking may also be considered based on other selection factors. A strong following on streaming platforms such as Twitch can strengthen an application. Scholarship recipients are expected to participate in weekly university competitions and represent Roehampton at external events. The scholarship initially offered £1,500 but was later increased to £2,000 following the strong performance and growing popularity of the university’s esports team. The initiative reflects the growing recognition of esports as a competitive skill and potential career pathway.
