KEO AI PC: Bengaluru Engineers Build Affordable AI Computer

KEO AI PC affordable computer developed by Bengaluru engineers

KEO AI PC has been developed by two Bengaluru semiconductor engineers as a low-cost alternative to computers based on ARM and x86 architectures. The Made-in-Karnataka device uses an open-source RISC-V processor and is designed to make AI-enabled computing more accessible to students, children and communities with limited resources. The computer uses Linux Ubuntu and LibreOffice, with its hardware and software ecosystem built around open-source platforms. The device was also tested by scientists at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and IIIT. According to the developers, KEO’s production cost is below ₹18,999. An NGO has already purchased more than 2,000 devices for distribution to government schools across Karnataka. The initiative highlights Karnataka’s focus on affordable AI technology and indigenous computing. By using open-source technology, KEO aims to reduce dependence on proprietary platforms while expanding access to AI and digital learning.
