Google AI for students is expanding with new learning tools and a 12-month free Google AI Plus plan for eligible college students outside the US. Google announced the initiatives as part of its Back to School 2026 programme on August 21. The new features across Google Search and Gemini are designed to help students understand complex concepts, organise study material and prepare for examinations. Google Search is adding tools for interactive visuals, practice quizzes and step-by-step learning support, while Gemini is introducing a Student Hub and study notebooks with diagnostic quizzes and personalised study plans. The tools could be particularly relevant to Indian students preparing for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET. Eligible Indian college students can also receive increased Gemini usage limits and 400 GB of storage through the free 12-month Google AI Plus offer.
