Student Well-Being in India declines sharply as students move through senior school, with a new study finding a fall in the share of students reporting high overall well-being from Class 8 to Class 12. The Student Well-Being Pulse Report 2026 by the IC3 Movement found that the proportion of students reporting high overall well-being dropped from 62% in Grade 8 to 43% in Grade 12. The findings point out to growing challenges during the senior-school years, when students face academic expectations, career decisions, examinations and increasing pressure. The report highlights the need to look beyond marks and academic performance and give greater attention to students’ emotional and overall well-being. Schools, parents and educators can play an important role by creating supportive environments where students can discuss concerns, manage pressure and seek guidance when needed. The findings reinforce the importance of making student well-being an integral part of school education.
