India AI Strength is increasingly being built around AI applications, data centres and digital infrastructure, according to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. He said India’s biggest advantage in artificial intelligence lies in the applications layer, supported by the country’s established IT ecosystem and ability to develop technology solutions for businesses. Vaishnaw also highlighted the rapid growth of data-centre infrastructure and India’s renewable energy capacity as an advantage for supporting this expansion. He noted that around 80% of startups coming up currently are providing AI-based solutions, highlighting the growing demand for artificial intelligence across industries. India’s electronics manufacturing journey, he added, shows how the country can gradually build capabilities in emerging areas such as semiconductors. For students, the development points to growing opportunities in AI, software, data science, cloud computing, cybersecurity, semiconductor technology and related fields. The changing ecosystem also underlines the importance of developing practical, future-ready technology skills.
