Bengaluru AI pothole app developed by engineer Gaurav Sen uses a dashcam, GPS, an accelerometer and AI vision to detect potholes, locate them and connect road damage with the relevant contractor and official. The system goes beyond simply identifying damaged roads. It checks around 2,900 government contracts to find the tender and contractor linked to a particular road stretch. The app can reportedly create a structured complaint record in about four seconds, including a photograph, location, tender number and responsible officer. During one commute, the system detected 12 potholes and generated location-based evidence for each. The project shows how artificial intelligence can be used for civic technology and public accountability. Instead of relying only on manual complaints, AI can help turn everyday road problems into organised, evidence-based reports that may be easier for authorities to act on.
