IIT Madras Fellowship 2026, officially known as the Institute Post-Doctoral Fellowship (IPDF), is open to researchers who have completed their PhD and wish to pursue advanced research at IIT Madras. The fellowship offers ₹1.30 lakh per month and ₹2 lakh annual contingency support, with the tenure extending up to three years. Applicants must have completed their PhD within the previous five years and generally be under 32 years of age at the time of joining. A five-year age relaxation is available for SC/ST and women candidates, while OBC-NCL candidates receive three years’ relaxation. Applicants must also have at least two Q1 journal papers as a primary contributor. Candidates must identify an IIT Madras faculty member working in their research area and obtain the faculty member’s consent before applying. PhD scholars who have submitted their thesis may also apply, subject to submitting the required provisional or degree certificate within six months of appointment.
