Vivekananda Pasam career journey began with a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Hyderabad, which he completed in 2021. During campus placements, he received an offer from Amazon as a Software Development Engineer but chose to pursue his interest in governance, economics and public policy instead. Pasam spent nearly four years preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. He appeared for the exam in 2022, 2023 and 2025 and cleared the Preliminary stage in all three attempts but did not make the final selection list. He later cleared SSC CGL and joined as a Customs Inspector in September 2025. He then shifted towards management education and prepared for CAT 2025 for around 45 days. He scored an impressive 99.92 percentile, secured admission offers from the top IIMs and eventually chose IIM Ahmedabad for its 2026–28 programme. His journey highlights that career setbacks do not necessarily mark the end of a goal. Changing direction, building on previous experiences and continuing to learn can open new career opportunities.
