IGNOU one-year master’s programmes have been launched for graduates who have completed a four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP), offering an accelerated postgraduate pathway. IGNOU one-year master’s programmes will allow eligible graduates of four-year undergraduate programmes to pursue selected postgraduate degrees in one year instead of the traditional two-year route. The initiative is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the UGC’s Curriculum and Credit Framework. IGNOU has announced nine one-year Master’s programmes under this initiative. The courses are M.A. Economics, M.A. Sociology, M.A. History, M.Com., M.A. Journalism and Mass Communication, M.A. English, M.A. Hindi, M.A. Sanskrit and M.A. Urdu. The programmes are specifically intended for candidates who have completed a four-year undergraduate programme (FYUP). Students should check the individual programme eligibility, admission procedure, fee structure and availability before applying. IGNOU has also extended the July 2026 re-registration deadline to August 16, 2026 for eligible students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate programmes through ODL and online modes.
