AI in Healthcare India increasing patient-care capacity

AI in Healthcare India is delivering measurable benefits, according to findings from the Philips Future Health Index 2026 India report. The research surveyed 200 healthcare professionals and 2,004 patients in India as part of a global study across 10 countries. The report found that 71% of Indian healthcare professionals said AI increased their capacity to see more patients, compared with 50% globally. Among those reporting increased capacity, clinicians saw a median of 10 additional patients per week. Meanwhile, 82% reported improved workflow efficiency through AI. AI is also helping professionals save time, with 58% reporting annual savings of at least 132 hours. However, responsible adoption remains important. While 85% believe AI can improve patient outcomes, 86% say AI outputs require human oversight, and 45% report limited or inconsistent AI training at their organisations.
