Karnataka Medical Colleges NRI Quota has increased to 105 seats this year, nearly double the 57 seats offered across nine government medical colleges when the quota was introduced last year. The 15% NRI quota has now been extended to government colleges that received an increase in MBBS intake. NRI quota seats in government medical colleges are priced at ₹25,09,350, with the initiative intended to help institutions become more financially self-reliant and reduce dependence on government grants. Institutions including Mysore Medical College and Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubballi, have introduced NRI quota seats this year. The expansion has also affected private medical colleges, with at least seven institutions reducing their NRI quota fees amid increased competition. Overall, 15,395 MBBS seats are available this year, while option entry for medical and dental seats has begun. The expansion of NRI seats is expected to give eligible students more options during Karnataka medical admissions.
