Karnataka Government First Policy is aimed at connecting deeptech startups with real-world challenges faced by government departments and public-sector organisations. Under the initiative, eligible startups will get opportunities to pilot their technologies and potentially secure the government as an early customer. The policy is expected to improve market access for startups developing solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence, healthcare, education, urban governance, cybersecurity and other emerging technologies. Government departments, meanwhile, can use innovative technologies to address public-service challenges more efficiently. The initiative builds on Karnataka’s established startup ecosystem. The state has more than 21,000 startups and has introduced programmes including the ELEVATE NxT deeptech initiative. By creating a pathway from innovation to government adoption, Karnataka hopes to help deeptech companies move beyond prototypes, demonstrate their technologies and scale solutions for wider public use.
