Aequs Airbus A320 Wheel Project has positioned Karnataka’s Belagavi Aerospace SEZ as one of the world’s leading aerospace manufacturing hubs. Aequs has secured a 15-year contract from France’s Safran Landing Systems to manufacture fully integrated wheels for Airbus A320 aircraft, with production scheduled to begin in FY2028. The project will see the complete manufacturing process—from sourcing aerospace-grade aluminium and forging to precision machining, surface treatment and final assembly—carried out entirely within the Belagavi Aerospace SEZ. This is the first time complete Airbus aircraft wheels will be manufactured in India, strengthening the country’s “Make in India” initiative. The agreement also reflects growing global confidence in India’s aerospace manufacturing capabilities and further enhances Karnataka’s reputation as a hub for high-precision engineering and aviation technology.
