VTU HIV Screening Camps will soon be conducted across Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU)-affiliated colleges in Karnataka as part of the Mobilisation for AIDS Suraksha (MAS) programme. The initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society (KSAPS) and district AIDS control officers, aims to raise awareness about HIV, reduce stigma and encourage voluntary screening and counselling among students. The university has clarified that HIV testing is not compulsory and that colleges must maintain strict confidentiality throughout the programme. The eight-month campaign will include awareness sessions, expert talks, cultural activities, QR-code-based self-risk assessment tools and access to confidential counselling services. Colleges have also been instructed to submit reports after organising the integrated health camps.
