Students affected by Karnataka Junk Food Ban

Karnataka Junk Food Ban has been implemented to promote healthier eating habits among students across the state. The government has prohibited the sale, free distribution, advertising and promotion of foods high in fat, sugar and salt (HFSS) inside school and college campuses and within a 50-metre radius of these institutions. The order applies to schools up to Class 12 and pre-university colleges. Authorities said the move is intended to improve student health and reduce the consumption of unhealthy foods. Educational institutions have been directed to ensure compliance, while food safety officials will monitor implementation. The initiative is expected to encourage healthier food choices among students and create a safer nutritional environment in educational institutions.
