Students at IISc Bengaluru's new BTech Aerospace Engineering programme

IISc Bengaluru BTech Aerospace Engineering has welcomed its first undergraduate batch, marking a historic milestone in 84 years after the institute established its Aerospace Engineering Department. The four-year programme is designed to provide a strong foundation in mathematics, physics, engineering sciences, aerodynamics, propulsion, flight mechanics, space systems, and guidance and control. Students will gain practical experience through the Aerospace Engineering X Lab, Flight Lab, and a final-year Design-Build-Fly capstone project, where they will design and build an unmanned aerial vehicle. The inaugural batch consists of 25 students admitted through JEE Advanced and JoSAA counselling. IISc expects the programme to prepare graduates for careers in aerospace, defence, space technology, research, and deep-tech entrepreneurship, strengthening India’s growing aerospace ecosystem.
