NEET UG Two-Stage Exam could become a reality as the Central Government informed the Supreme Court that it is evaluating major reforms to the national medical entrance examination. The proposal includes shifting NEET UG from a single pen-and-paper test to a computer-based examination with a two-stage format similar to JEE Main. According to the Centre, the reforms are under consideration and no final decision has been taken. The government said any changes will be based on the recommendations of a high-level task force chaired by Nandan Nilekani, which is reviewing ways to make public examinations more secure, transparent, and efficient. If approved, the new format is expected to strengthen exam integrity, reduce the risk of paper leaks, and modernise the medical entrance process for lakhs of aspirants.
