Women Officers Indian Coast Guard : Eligible for Higher Posts After Policy Reform

Women officers become eligible for higher posts in Indian Coast Guard

Women Officers Indian Coast Guard will now enjoy equal opportunities for promotion and career progression following a major policy reform announced by the Ministry of Defence. The new policy allows eligible women officers holding Permanent Appointments to be considered for higher ranks on par with their male counterparts, while women serving under Short Service Appointments can opt for Permanent Appointments if they meet the prescribed eligibility conditions. The reforms also introduce gender-neutral induction policies and streamline ex gratia compensation procedures for the families of personnel who go missing during operations. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the reforms as an important step towards strengthening gender equality and modernising the Indian Coast Guard.
