HIV Testing and Counselling for Students to Begin in Karnataka Colleges

HIV Testing and Counselling programme launched for college students

HIV Testing and Counselling for Students will be introduced across engineering and degree colleges in Karnataka as part of a new public health initiative. The program aims to improve awareness, encourage voluntary testing and provide confidential counselling services for college students. Health officials said early diagnosis and proper guidance can significantly reduce stigma while promoting responsible health practices among young adults. Institutions will conduct awareness campaigns and facilitate access to testing in collaboration with health departments. Experts believe the initiative will strengthen preventive healthcare and improve students’ understanding of HIV transmission, treatment and support services. HIV Testing and Counselling for Students is expected to create a healthier and better-informed campus environment across Karnataka.
