Meowmbai AI is an innovative platform developed by an IIT graduate to map Mumbai’s street cats using artificial intelligence and community participation for better animal welfare. A 25-year-old IIT Guwahati graduate, Sudarshan Birla, has developed Meowmbai, an innovative digital platform that maps Mumbai’s street cats using community-generated data and artificial intelligence. Built in just two weeks, the website allows users to upload geotagged photos of stray cats, helping to create a citywide database of feline sightings. The platform also enables users to report injured or abandoned cats, making it easier for animal welfare organisations and volunteers to provide timely assistance. Birla, a product manager by profession, envisions Meowmbai evolving into a comprehensive resource for pet adoption, rescue efforts, and responsible pet care. The initiative demonstrates how technology, innovation, and community participation can come together to support urban animal welfare and inspire meaningful social impact.
