Coaching Centre Regulations: Government Plans Stricter Rules to Reduce Student Stress

Students attending coaching classes under new government safety regulations

Coaching Centre Regulations are set to become stricter as the government plans new measures to reduce student stress, improve safety standards, and promote a healthier learning environment. The Central Government is considering a comprehensive framework to regulate the coaching sector in light of growing concerns about rising student suicides, intense academic pressure, and safety lapses in coaching institutes. To ensure better infrastructure, students’ welfare, transparent operations and accountability in the coaching centres, a draft parliamentary panel report has recommended a national law. It also suggests a revamp of entrance tests like JEE, NEET-UG and CUET-UG to reduce dependence on private tutoring. The recommendations follow a surge in mental health concerns, a proliferation of dummy schools and recent unsafe incidents at coaching hubs. Experts feel the reforms could ease the stress among aspirants, foster healthier learning environments and encourage schools to take a bigger role in preparing students for competitive examinations.
