CBSE Three-Language Policy: 7 Key Changes Every Student Should Know

The CBSE Three-Language Policy, introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, brings significant changes to language learning in schools. Students, parents, and educators should understand the updated rules, language choices, and implementation guidelines. The current Class 10 batch will continue to use the existing language scheme and will not be required to follow the revised policy. Students in Classes 7, 8, and 9 who have already chosen two foreign languages can continue to do so while adding one Indian language, without having to take a Class 10 Board examination in the third language. The revised guidelines also state that the policy will be phased in for future batches, ensuring that no student is disadvantaged during the transition to the new language framework.
